Benon B Nabaasa is a pastoralist and a graduate student at Makerere University’s Department of Geography Geoinformatics and Climatic Sciences. He holds a first-class honor from the Department of Forestry Biodiversity and Tourism and is now a researcher at the Urban Action Lab (UAL) housed under the Department of Geography, Makerere University. His fields of competency include natural resources and ecosystem services mapping, and survey, GIS, Geospatial analysis and Earth observation, Permaculture, Participatory GIS and Community Based Participatory Planning. Benon has been an active researcher and has several publications to his name. He is passionate about natural self-sustaining systems and livelihoods, systems like pastoralism, subsistence farming and all systems that imitate nature. Judith is a Graduate Fellow and facilitator at the Urban Action Lab, housed under the Department of Geography, Geo-Informatics & Climatic Sciences, where she collaborates on research projects between the research lab and its partners, including community organizations, civil society organizations, and government agencies. She is passionate about informality and inequality and researches issues that affect the quality of life in terms of livability, economic growth, and development, inclusion, and equity, with a keen interest in policy and planning and how the two shape urban environments. Judith holds a bachelor’s degree in urban planning and a Master’s in land use and regional development planning. She is currently a Doctoral student in the department, investigating the climate-inequality-health nexus focusing on conditions that lead to varied malaria outcomes within Kampala city. |

Betty Adoch is a PhD. student at Makerere University, Department of Geography, Geo-informatics, and Climatic Sciences. Betty is a researcher at the urban Action Lab under a project, Migration, Urbanisation, and Conflicts in Africa (MUCA). She is passonate about natural resource management and livelihoods, climate change adaptation, and refugee studies. Her PhD. project focuses on land conflict and livelihood nexus in Gulu city, Northern Uganda. I am a geographer specialising in socio-economic geography. At the moment, I am a PhD student working on coffee agroforestry value chain under the Agroforestry for People, Ecosystems and Climate (AfPEC) Project. My PhD research focuses on four main aspects within coffee agroforestry: understanding gender dynamics within the coffee value chain, evaluating the effectiveness of direct-to-market approaches, exploring farmers’ perceptions to Cascara production (a tea made from coffee berry pulp), and documenting the potential secondary products from coffee agroforestry for export and my Doctoral Committee Members are; Professor Frank Mugagga; Dr Kellen Aganyira; Professor Anne Mette Lykke; Professor Ida Theilade; Dr Catherine Mulinde |
