David Mfitumukiza is a pracademic in environment and natural resources with over 15 years’ experience including working with local government as a District Environment Officer. His research, teaching and practice covers: Spatial-temporal environmental systems analysis and management; Rangeland ecology and management; Biogeography; Landscape ecology and management; Adaptive management of environmental change; Locally led and community based adaptation; Socio-ecological resilience, among others. His experience ranges from working as a technician to management and leadership of programs and projects. He has worked on various training and capacity building efforts focused on climate change and development linkages including integration of climate change, land use planning, geographic information systems in government development plans and integration of climate change knowledge in university, secondary and primary education. He has been involved in various mirror committees on environmental standards with Uganda National Bureau of standards since 2009. He is also currently engaged with capacity building programmes and activities in Uganda and other Least Developed Countries in Asia and Africa around training, education and research to improve climate change knowledge capacity and resilience building.
