Dr. Catherine Mulinde is a Climate and Environment Scientist who is a Lecturer at Makerere University in the Department of Geography, Geo-informatics and Climatic Sciences for over 15 years. Catherine holds a PhD in Climate Science and Adaptation, a Master of Science Degree in Environment and Natural Resources, a Postgraduate Diploma in Meteorology, and a Bachelors Degree in Environmental Management. She has published and conducted research in Climate Sciences, Climate Adaptation, Geography, Environment Sciences and Agriculture. Her skills and expertise include climate change modeling; meteorology; weather forecasting; farming systems analysis; climate risk and community adaptation assessments, climate extreme analysis (e.g. droughts); econometrics; gender and migration assessments; environmental / ecosystem impact and degradation analyses. Over the years, she has developed expertise in statistical and spatial analysis while addressing research and development challenges.

Dr. Catherine has provided her expertise on various projects and consultancies within Uganda and East Africa. She has been engaged on several assignments and platforms with Makerere University, Government of Uganda and Non-governmental organizations (including Uganda National Meteorological Authority – UNMA, Ministry of Water and Environment, Office of the Prime Minister, National Agricultural Research Organization-NARO and Greenwatch). She has also collaborated through research with institutions like Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), CGIAR research program on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (CCAFS), International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), World Resources Institute (WRI); and research centres like Makerere University Centre for Climate Change Research and Innovations (MUCCRI), The International Centre for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF); as well as Funding agencies like Carnegie Corporation of New York, USAID, USDA, UNDP, DAAD, BMZ, CODESRIA, FAO, IDRC, FHI360 and GIZ. She also has experience in capacity building and organizational skills through her leadership in workshop teams and trainings related to climate change and environment disciplines. Her motivation to become a versatile Researcher sprouts from her willingness to contribute to the development and sustainability of mother Earth and its resources.
