The AFRICA CLIMATE RISK CONFERENCE that took place at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa in Addis Ababa Ethiopia on the 7 – 9 OCTOBER 2019 with a them of “ Dismantling barriers to urgent climate adaption action in Africa”. Was an open platform for sharing latest African climate research among researchers policy makers, practitioners and development patterns. The conference brought together academicians, meteorology agencies,researchers, NGOs, government agencies and development patterns to share knowledge on climate services in Africa.
The conference aimed at disseminating results and share insights from new and on-going climate science and adaptation research in Africa. It also aimed at contributing to efforts to address barriers to more effective use of climate information to ensure great impact and legacy of on going research programs.

The department of Geography, Geo-Informatics and Climatic Sciences was well represented with a delegation lead by the coordinator meteorology unit Dr.Alex Nimusiima. Other members included Dr. Geoffrey Sabiiti, Ms. Nakanjako Ritah and Ms. Amina Twah and Mr.Jesse Kisembe who presented papers and posters on their research work during the conference.
