Orientation Of The 1st Years 2019

The Department of Geography, Geo-Informatics and Climatic Sciences conducted its orientation for the 1st year students for the academic year of 2019/2020. Held on the 09/08/2019 in lecture theater 1 located at the Meteorology-Unit (FCIT Building) the function included students admitted on the Bachelor of Science in Meteorology, Bachelor of Geographical Sciences and those in education with Geography as a subject, and was presided over by the Chair, Assoc prof. Frank Mugagga.  The MC Dr. Denis Nseka  and the Patron of one of the students Governing body in the department welcomed the students and thanked them for choosing the department.

The HOD of department also welcomed and  thanked the students for choosing the department, gave them a brief background of the department and the available facilities in the department, he encouraged them to make use of the available facilities, Prof.Mugagga advised the students not to waste time but rather take their studies serious for they are the future professors of tomorrow.  Assoc Prof. Fredrick Tumwine a senior member in the department also addressed the students and gave advantage in the courses they chose and later also encouraged them to join the students governing body MUGS which is a core foundation in joining international associations related to their course.

Dr. Alex Nimusiima Coordinator Meteorology Unit, also addressed the students who spoke in details about the Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. The students ware later allowed to asked questions which staff members responded to and function was closed. Students ware later handed over to their respective students governing bodies for more briefing.
